Azar 5-for-5 for Claws Sunday, June 18th , 2051 It doesn't happen very often, but it did for Dave Azar -- a 5-hit day. He went on a rampage and sparkled on the diamond at Nogales Grounds, but the performance lost a little luster when the Claws were downed, 11-8, by the Nogales Nómadas del Sol. After his glittering performance, the Cork left fielder told the press that he "just tried to get myself in a good count and have a good at-bat." His batting theory paid dividends today as he slammed 5 hits in 5 tries and put his name in the record book. "I just wish we had added a win in the record book, too," Azar said. Dave Azar singled in the 2nd, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, walked in a run in the 6th, singled in the 8th and hit an RBI single in the 9th. So far this season, Azar is batting .307 with 1 home run, 29 RBIs and 17 runs scored. He has 55 hits in 179 at-bats, 12 walks and a .369 OBP. Azar has played in 47 games. View Boxscore |
