Rhome Stops Williams Hit Streak Thursday, June 8th , 2051 It was a doubly miserable day for Matt Williams of the Colorado Springs Generals, as he saw his 22-game hitting streak end and his team lose, 5-2, to the Rhome Rhavioli at Ballpark of Colorado Springs. The 22-year-old shortstop was held hitless in 3 at-bats by the Rhavioli. "Anyone on a 22-game hitting streak is going to be a tough out," Rhome manager Tom Scherger said later. "But we had a plan and we were careful about it, and got it done." Thus far this year, Williams is batting .454 with 7 home runs, 50 RBIs and 46 runs scored. |
