Rivas Extends Hit Streak to 20 Games Sunday, May 11th , 2053 The streak is alive and well -- at least for today. Tony Rivas did it again, bashing 1 hit in the contest at Nogales Grounds. For the last 20 games in a row, the 18-year-old second baseman has collected at least one hit. His efforts helped the Nogales Nómadas del Sol beat the Sheboygan Bratwurst, 14-3. "I'm happy I kept the streak going," Rivas told a standing-room-only crowd of reporters gathered in the Nogales clubhouse. "Honestly though, I'm looking forward to going home and not thinking about this for the rest of the day." Tony Rivas flied out in the 3rd, walked in the 5th, hit a three-run double in the 6th, struck out in the 7th and walked in the 8th. This year, Rivas has collected a .429 batting average to date with 33 hits in 77 at-bats, 16 RBIs, no home runs and scored 14 times. He has played in 18 games. |
