Lucero Goes 5-for-6
Tuesday, May 3rd , 2050
5 hits in a game has always been a big milestone in baseball -- 5 hits in a game gets a player's name in the record book, win or lose. Felipe Lucero got his name recorded today, but the Nogales NĂ³madas del Sol picked up the win at Claws Ballpark, topping the Cork Claws, 18-17.

"He bushwhacked us," said winning manager Aaron Robinson. "We were lucky to come out ahead."

Lucero spoke to reporters in the clubhouse following the game, saying his nerves only set in once he was on the cusp of the milestone.

"I got too much adrenaline going when I realized that this could be a once-in-a-lifetime day," the first baseman said. "I think the coaches could tell I was going to be ready to swing at anything close. That's why my third base coach told me to calm down and wait for a good pitch. That got me back on track."

Felipe Lucero walked in the 1st, hit a two-run single in the 2nd, struck out in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, hit an RBI single in the 5th, singled in the 7th, walked in a run in the 8th and singled in the 10th.

This year, Lucero has socked 14 hits in 34 at-bats for a .412 average with no home runs. He is getting on base at a .574 pace and his totals also include 8 RBIs and 9 runs scored.
