Great Day for Phenix -- 5 Hits Saturday, July 20th , 2052 There aren't many who could be pro ballplayers and there are even fewer who could put up 5 hits in a day. Evan Phenix is one of those rare few, as he went 5-for-7 against the Grosse Pointe Better Mades at Grosse Pointe Grounds. The monster effort from the 19-year-old third baseman helped the Galveston Gumdrops get the win, 12-8. "We made some bad pitches and he took advantage of it," said Better Mades manager Ubaldo Riba. "That's the game, though. Don't make mistakes and you'll win ballgames. Make mistakes and, well, you saw what happened today." Evan Phenix grounded out in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, struck out in the 4th, singled in the 6th, hit a two-run single in the 6th, singled in the 8th and hit an RBI single in the 9th.
