Roadrunners End Rodriguez Streak Tuesday, July 26th , 2050 Concord third baseman Mario Rodriguez came into today's game against the Albuquerque Roadrunners on a hot streak. He left on a cold one. The Roadrunners did their jobs well, beating the Concord Blue Devils, 5-2, and holding Rodriguez hitless to snap his 22-game hitting streak. The 21-year-old third baseman had a few words to say after finishing 0-for-4, telling reporters only that he "came up short." "What Mario did was exciting and quite an achievement," said Blue Devils manager C.J. Benevides. "It's tough enough to get one hit in this league, much less go 22 games in a row. I'm even more proud of the way he handled the press coverage. He never let the frenzy get to him or affect his play." So far this season, Rodriguez has recorded a .296 batting average with 107 hits, 15 home runs, 56 RBIs, 56 runs scored and a .373 OBP. |
