Killarney Shuts Out Great Lakes, 2-0
Wednesday, August 26th , 2048
Jake Kriegel of the Killarney Lakes was on top of his game.
The 35-year-old tantalized the Great Lakes Loons with crisp curves and changeups, mixed in with just enough fastballs to keep the batters honest, shutting them out, 2-0.
"He had the changeup working," Great Lakes manager Bobby Wilcher said in postgame comments. "You knew it was coming and you still grounded out -- and then he threw it even slower."
The Killarney hurler had 5 strikeouts, gave up no walks and surrendered 8 hits in his complete-game effort.
Kriegel told reporters after the game that "keeping the ball down is the key to being successful in this league."
"If you don't do that, they'll make you pay," he said.
On the season, Kriegel has a 6-3 record with a 2.86 ERA.
