Schenectady Halts Salinas's Hitting Steak
Saturday, August 7th , 2049
Maybe it really is taboo to talk about a hitting streak before it's over. Hours after speaking to the press about his 21-game hitting streak, Killarney center fielder Danny Salinas went hitless in 3 at-bats at Killarney Ballpark.
The sudden hitting drought came as the Lakes snagged the 5-4 win over the Schenectady Grasshoppers.
"Nope, it's not magic," Salinas said in his postgame press conference. "Nobody jinxed me. Streaks don't last forever. I've heard about it every day for weeks now. My roomie told me to get a hit before every game and wished me luck. I just ran out of hits."
This year, Salinas is batting .283 with 79 hits and 8 home runs. He has scored 44 times and has batted in 24 runs.
