Chews End Johnson Streak Saturday, July 22nd , 2051 The Charleston Chews got more than the 7-6 victory at Charleston Ballpark -- they also put an end to the 24-game hitting streak of Flagstaff Skyhawks center fielder John Johnson by holding him without a hit in 3 at-bats. After the game, Johnson seemed more concerned with his team taking the loss than with the demise of his streak. "I had some great looks at some pitches that I should have hit," he said. "I missed some that I shouldn't have swung at. All in all, I wasn't much help with the bat today." On the season, Johnson is batting .348 with 5 home runs and 18 RBIs. He has played in 28 games. |
