Grasshoppers Advance to Round 3
Tuesday, September 24th , 2047
The thrill of victory and the agony of defeat were on full display tonight at Ballpark of Schenectady as the Round 2 stretched to the final game.
It was the Schenectady Grasshoppers feeling the thrill of victory, with a 7-5 win over the Killarney Lakes, who were feeling the devastation of coming up short in their quest to make the Round 3.
"There's no way around it -- this sucks," said Killarney manager Matt Butler. "Congratulations to Schenectady, but I won't sugarcoat it, no one is happy about anything that transpired here tonight."
Instrumental in the 4-3 series win was third baseman Tim Jennings, who was named MVP. He hit .370 with a .433 on-base percentage. He had 2 home runs, drove in 6 RBI and scored 5 runs.
"We've got the most important stat of all and that's this final win -- that's the one that matters," he said.
The Schenectady Grasshoppers don't know who they will face in the next round. They will play the winner of the Da Nang Dolphins - Albany Polecats series. That series is tied at 3 games apiece. The Round 3 schedule will be announced after the Round 2 finishes.
