Da Nang Takes Round 1 Saturday, September 14th , 2047 The Round 1 may not have lived up to the expectation that it would be a dogfight that would go the distance. The Da Nang Dolphins, however, are not complaining. The Dolphins were plenty happy to have wrapped up the series early and to have knocked out the Baxter Dingos to advance to the Round 2. Da Nang won the final game by a 5-4 count at Da Nang Field and the series 4-2. Dolphins center fielder Fernando Espinal was named series MVP, as he hit .375 with a .407 on-base percentage. He added 2 home runs, drove in 4 RBI and scored 5 runs. "It's not going to be the last time Baxter makes it to the playoffs, so it's sure a nice feeling to put them out this year," Espinal said. "We just need to keep this going and take it day by day." The Da Nang Dolphins will play against the Albany Polecats in the next round. Albany won their series against the Concord Blue Devils 4 games to 2. The Round 2 schedule will be announced after the Round 1 finishes. View Boxscore |
