Esparza Keeps Hit Streak Alive Monday, June 19th , 2051 The Lincolnville Abes may have proven to be mere mortals as they lost, 5-1, to the Killarney Lakes, but Omar Esparza continued to hit like a god. The center fielder collected 1 hit in 5 at-bats in the loss and extended his hitting streak to 20 games. "Esparza is playing great and is on fire right now," Abes manager Ernesto Ortega said. "Hopefully his play can spark the rest of our team and help us pick up some wins." Esparza was apparently not happy with the game and when pressed by reporters in the locker room only said "nothing else matters but the loss." Omar Esparza flied out in the 1st, flied out in the 3rd, flied out in the 5th, singled in the 7th and flied out in the 9th. This year, Esparza has batted at a .315 pace with 84 hits, 6 home runs, 30 RBIs and scored 28 times. |
