Red-Hot Toman Scorches Orange Kings
Monday, July 13th , 2048
Flagstaff Skyhawks shortstop Jim Toman had a day to remember at Skyhawks Ballpark, ripping apart the Houston Orange Kings and sparking the 5-4 Skyhawks win.
Toman wrote his name in the record books with a 5-hit barrage, finishing his special day 5-for-5.
"I'm usually a first ball hitter," Toman told BNN reporters in the postgame press conference. "I think pitchers think batters are going to let the first one go by. I never do. I've always found that it's better to pull the trigger early in the count. Pitchers get real nasty when they get ahead of you, so I try to avoid it."
Jim Toman singled in the 1st, singled in the 4th, hit a two-run home run off Jayden Johnson in the 6th, singled in the 8th and hit a two-run home run off Luis Torres in the 10th.
Thus far this year, Toman has hit .311 with 5 home runs and 19 RBIs.
