Killarney Snaps Hirsch Streak at 20
Saturday, July 4th , 2048
Concord center fielder Eric Hirsch came into today's game against the Killarney Lakes on a hot streak. He left on a cold one.
The Lakes did their jobs well, beating the Concord Blue Devils, 8-2, and holding Hirsch hitless to snap his 20-game hitting streak. The 24-year-old center fielder had a few words to say after finishing 0-for-4, telling reporters only that he "came up short."
"What Eric did was exciting and quite an achievement," said Blue Devils manager C.J. Benevides. "It's tough enough to get one hit in this league, much less go 20 games in a row. I'm even more proud of the way he handled the press coverage. He never let the frenzy get to him or affect his play."
So far this year, Hirsch is batting .306 with 8 home runs and 31 RBIs.
