Dlugosh Hurls Perfect Game against Lakes
Monday, June 5th , 2051
Over the course of league history, some moments stand a little taller than others. One of those moments happened at Killarney Ballpark.
Schenectady right-hander Joe Dlugosh threw a perfect game as the Grasshoppers beat the Killarney Lakes, 3-0. In his post-game comments, Dlugosh told reporters that it was something he had never dreamed of.
"As a kid, you always think of pitching to win the final game of a championship," Dlugosh said. "You never think of pitching a perfect game, because it just seems unattainable. I'll remember this day for the rest of my life."
By the end of the game, Dlugosh had rung up 5 Killarney hitters on strikeouts, and did not allow a single baserunner. The fans gave Dlugosh a standing ovation as he left the mound, knowing they had witnessed one of the rarest events in the sport.
This season, Dlugosh has compiled a 7-3 mark with a 2.20 ERA in 12 starts.
