Hits Galore: Pickens Drills 5 Hits
Friday, April 17th , 2048
It was a high-five day for Giovanni Pickens, at least for a while.
The Tulsa first baseman got plenty of them from his teammates when he reached the five-hit milestone during today's game against the Flagstaff Skyhawks, but they were in short supply at the end, as Flagstaff won the game, 2-1. Pickens finished with an impressive 5-for-7 line, but the Drillers couldn't hold off the Skyhawks.
"Giovanni was hitting everything," said Drillers manager Nick Conley. "It's too bad the other guys couldn't rise to the occasion."
Giovanni Pickens flied out in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off Jeff Bialkowski in the 4th, singled in the 6th, singled in the 8th, singled in the 10th, singled in the 11th and struck out in the 13th.
For the year, Pickens is batting .350 with 14 hits and 5 home runs. He has scored 9 times and driven in 10.
