Defenders Advance to Round 2 Saturday, September 16th , 2051 The championship aspirations of the Hartford Defenders are still alive and well, while the Omaha Steaks are left to wait until next year. Hartford won the clinching game of the Round 1 2-0 over Omaha at Defenders Ballpark, to win the series 4-2. "You feel like a little kid again, celebrating something like this," said shortstop Cory Brown, who paced the Hartford offense and was named series MVP. "We take everything real seriously when we're on the field, but after a series is over you can finally relax a little bit." Brown claimed the MVP by racking up 13 hits for a .542 average, with a .593 on-base percentage. He had 0 home runs, 6 RBI and scored 4 runs. The Hartford Defenders don't know who they will face in the next round. They will play the winner of the Galway Gales - Baltimore Jaspers series. Baltimore leads the series 3 games to 2.
