Sunday, September 10th , 2051
Mike Mata showed off his speed, his power and his plate discipline at Defenders Ballpark, putting together all facets of his game to hit for the cycle in the Hartford win.
The 25-year-old catcher went 4-for-5, collecting 1 single, 1 double, 1 triple and 1 home run to help the Defenders top the Omaha Steaks by a score of 10-0. A jubilant Mata told reporters afterward that the experience was "unimaginable."
"Seriously, I would have been happy going 1-for-5 with just the double," he said. "So this feels incredible."
For the day, Mata finished with 3 RBI and 2 runs scored to go with his 4 hits.
Mike Mata hit a three-run home run off Danny Mendez in the 1st, singled in the 2nd, flied out in the 4th, tripled in the 7th and doubled in the 8th.
This season, Mata is hitting .305 with 9 home runs.
