Some moments become linked with a particular player's career forever. Jesus Gonzalez of the Hartford Defenders had one of those moments when he went 5-for-5 at the plate in his team's 7-4 win over the Santa Clara Vanguard at Rockets Ballpark.
"I won't forget this anytime soon, and I don't expect it to happen too often," the 24-year-old shortstop told reporters in the postgame interview. "I'll be happy to just get a hit or two every day. Enough to hang around the league a while longer. Like 10, maybe 15 more years."
Jesus Gonzalez hit a solo-shot off Brady Gambino in the 2nd, tripled in the 4th, hit a two-run home run off Brady Gambino in the 5th, singled in the 7th and singled in the 9th.
Gonzalez has a .248 average and a .287 on-base percentage for the year. He has picked up 61 hits, 6 home runs and driven in 19 runs.
