Santa Clara Wins Round 1 Monday, September 19th , 2050 The Santa Clara Vanguard and Glendale Skeeters hooked up in a classic Round 1 that went right down to the wire. In the end, it's Santa Clara heading off to the Round 2, after a 12-3 win at Rockets Ballpark tonight earned the 4-3 series win. Outside Rockets Ballpark, whether they were supporters of Santa Clara or Glendale, many fans talked about how it was a series they would never forget. Mario Rodriguez played the hero for the Vanguard in the series, as his MVP performance included a .542 batting average, with a .593 on-base percentage. He also had 1 home runs, 6 RBI and scored 7 runs. The Santa Clara Vanguard will play against the Hartford Defenders in the next round. Hartford won their series against the Omaha Steaks 4 games to 2.
