Pina Goes 5-for-6
Wednesday, August 17th , 2050
Omaha shortstop Rey Pina had a big day at Vung Tau Diamond against the Vung Tau Vipers. The 31-year-old, who is not typically considered a big threat with the bat, went 5-for-6 and led to the 15-2 Steaks triumph over Vung Tau.
"Hey, I'm as surprised as you guys are," Pina said in his postgame comments, smiling as he scolded the press corps for underestimating him. "Maybe I'm not so bad at the plate after all."
Rey Pina hit a solo-shot off Matt Peters in the 1st, grounded out in the 3rd, hit an RBI single in the 4th, singled in the 5th, hit a solo-shot off Danny Beck in the 7th and singled in the 8th.
This season, Pina is hitting .306 with 13 home runs.
