Steaks Win, 5-0, as Romero Mystifies Fresno
Saturday, August 8th , 2048
"Good pitching beats good hitting" is an old baseball adage.
Well, good pitching also beats bad hitting.
Miguel Romero of the Omaha Steaks proved the point at Memorial Stadium, holding the Fresno Orange Sox to 5 hits in a complete game shutout victory.
"Romero made us look real bad today," Orange Sox manager Joseph Winter said in a postgame interview. "He was outstanding. He was down in the zone with all his pitches. Everything was sinking."
Romero had 5 strikeouts and gave up 3 walks as the Steaks took the 5-0 win.
Checking out his stats for the season, Romero has racked up 6 wins and 1 loss in 12 starts, posted a 2.37 ERA, and struck out 72 batters in 95 innings.
