Lewinsohn Slams 3 Deep for Hillsboro
Saturday, May 14th , 2050
It was a day for the record books for Hillsboro Hops third baseman Itzik Lewinsohn, who walloped three out of Rockets Ballpark against the Vanguard. However, not even a three-homer game could prevent the Vanguard from getting the 11-8 victory.
"We threw some good pitches and they hit 'em, and we made some bad pitches and they hit 'em. That's a good strategy for losing ballgames," Hillsboro skipper Ryan Muirhead joked after the loss.
Lewinsohn still had a few opportunities to celebrate along the way. He was 3-for-5 for the day, batting in 4 runs and scoring 3 times.
"I never, ever thought I would hit three home runs," Lewinsohn said. "I hit three home runs once when I was 12 in Little League and I thought that was going to be the last time."
Itzik Lewinsohn hit a solo-shot off Juan Herrera in the 1st, struck out in the 3rd, hit a solo-shot off Juan Herrera in the 5th, flied out in the 8th and hit a two-run home run off Alfredo Valdez in the 9th.
Thus far this season, Lewinsohn has hit .284 with 8 home runs, 15 RBIs and scored 20 times.
