Santa Clara Triumph Powered by Nothdurft's 5 Hits Thursday, May 29th , 2053 It was a good day for the Vanguard at Rockets Ballpark as they clipped the Kingston Mounties, 10-7. It was tremendous day for Steve Nothdurft, who was on a hitting barrage at the plate, finishing 5-for-5. "I don't know what to call that," the Santa Clara third baseman told reporters after his big performance. "I'm not 'dialed in' or 'in a zone,' I just try to keep it simple. Basically the pitcher throws the ball, I try to pick up the spin, then I hit it. Today I picked up the spin pretty well." Steve Nothdurft hit a two-run single in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, hit an RBI double in the 5th, singled in the 6th and hit an RBI single in the 8th. This year, Nothdurft is batting .327 with 3 home runs and 22 RBIs. In 25 games he has scored 12 times. View Boxscore |
