Perez 5-for-5 for Gales
Friday, July 12th , 2047
Even as a kid, Travis Perez said his coaches told him the key to hitting was making contact, and letting everything else flow from there. At Gales Ballpark, Perez showed how well he learned that lesson.
The 24-year-old third baseman had 5 hits in 5 at-bats for the Galway Gales, helping his team knock off the Hartford Defenders by a score of 10-5.
"They always said, just keep your eye on the ball, don't overswing, make contact and you never know what will happen," he said. "That's all I did."
Travis Perez singled in the 1st, hit a three-run home run off Alex Smith in the 2nd, doubled in the 4th, walked in the 6th, singled in the 7th and hit an RBI single in the 8th.
Perez is hitting .318 so far this season with 47 RBIs and 50 runs scored. He has 103 hits including 13 home runs, 43 walks and .404 OBP.
