Mata Sizzles with 20-Game Batting Streak Monday, April 24th , 2051 Mike Mata of the Hartford Defenders extended his hitting streak to 20 straight games with 1 hit in today's 7-4 triumph over the Hillsboro Hops at Defenders Ballpark. "Mike has been making it easy for me to pencil his name in the lineup every day," Defenders manager Leon Quinonez Jr. joked after the game. Mike Mata doubled in the 2nd, walked in the 4th, was hit by a pitch in the 5th and grounded out in the 7th. For the year, Mata is batting .518 with 29 hits and 4 home runs.
