Hamtramck Shuts Out Santa Clara Behind Halpin, 3-0 Tuesday, August 13th , 2041 Scott Halpin hurled a fine game for the Hamtramck Paczkis at Paczkis Ballpark today, holding the Santa Clara Vanguard to 1 hit in a shutout win. "When he started out, his command wasn't that good, but he's a tough guy," Hamtramck manager Jose Ortiz said. "The more pitches he throws, the better his command is." The right-hander had 9 strikeouts and 2 walks in the 3-0 victory. "An outstanding job," Santa Clara manager Bob Sanchez said. "We couldn't get anything going. Every time we got a hit, he got out of the jam. He pitched a terrific game." This year Halpin has made 21 starts, thrown 133 innings, fanned 145 batters and walked 68.
