Vanguard End Leahy Streak Monday, May 20th , 2047 The Hartford Defenders lost to the Santa Clara Vanguard, 3-2, at Rockets Ballpark, but perhaps the bigger news was the end of Ron Leahy's 27-game hitting streak. The first baseman went 0-for-1 on the day. "We felt if we could slow down Leahy, we would win the game," Vanguard manager Jay Dalusag explained. "They really seemed to feed off his streak, so we tried to put more emphasis on shutting him down." So far this season, Leahy has put up a .397 batting average with 46 hits, 8 home runs and 23 RBIs. |
