Thrice Is Nice: Benavidez Unloads 3 Homers Monday, April 18th , 2050 The old superstition that "bad news comes in threes" certainly came true for the Key West Lime Pies. Hartford right fielder Josh Benavidez tripled up on the home runs to propel the Defenders to a win, 9-5, at Lime Pies Ballpark. "We had our chances to win the game, but we just didn't come through," Key West manager Paul Stevens said. "Benavidez hit the heck out of the ball." In addition to the homers, Benavidez collected 3 hits in 6 at-bats, 4 RBIs and scored 3 runs. "Easy swings get you home runs," he said after the game. "I kept telling myself not to press. They have to be nice and easy swings." Josh Benavidez grounded out in the 1st, hit a two-run home run off Jonathan Wilcox in the 2nd, grounded out in the 3rd, flied out in the 5th, hit a solo-shot off Juan Cerda in the 7th and hit a solo-shot off Brayden Anglesey in the 9th. On the year, Benavidez has hit .348 with 4 home runs, 9 RBIs and scored 7 runs. |
