Portland Loses RF Schmidt, Suspended by League Sunday, October 8th , 2051 The league has issued a 4-game suspension to Pickles right fielder Brian Schmidt for his bad conduct yesterday at the Portland-Kinsale game at Blue Raiders Ballpark. Schmidt was tossed out of the game for heatedly questioning a third-strike call. Once the home plate umpire ejected him, Schmidt ran over to argue more, even though the umpire warned him specifically, "Don't you come over here." Schmidt then retreated to the dugout, where he threw several bats onto the field and followed with a toss of an athletic trainer's bag. Later, Schmidt ran out of the clubhouse tunnel to continue arguing -- a big no-no for a player who has already been thrown out. This season, Schmidt is batting .263 with 58 RBIs, 65 runs scored and 13 home runs. |
