Prudenville Halts Williams's Hitting Steak Tuesday, August 31st , 2049 The Rochester River Sharks lost to the Prudenville Timberwolves, 8-6, at Ballpark of Rochester, but perhaps the bigger news was the end of Brian Williams's 25-game hitting streak. The center fielder went 0-for-3 on the day. "We felt if we could slow down Williams, we would win the game," Timberwolves manager Jim Damewood explained. "They really seemed to feed off his streak, so we tried to put more emphasis on shutting him down." In 54 games this season, Williams has compiled a .292 batting average with 63 hits and 6 home runs. He has also scored 28 times and knocked in 29 runs. |
