Gummere, Baker Suspended for Fracas Friday, June 7th , 2052 After an intense confrontation, both the Avalanche Mike Gummere and the Falcons Ron Baker were handed their punishments today. The league commissioner's office issued suspensions for an on-the-field conflict that occurred at a recent Philadelphia-Phoenix game. Mike Gummere will miss 3 games, while Ron Baker was suspended for 6 games. "Sometimes we go too far and have to pay the consequences," Mike Gummere commented later. "Hopefully cooler heads will prevail the next time we play." Hitting .250 to date, Gummere has 6 home runs and 24 RBIs. He has played in 45 games. Over the season Baker has thrown 37 innings and dished out 32 strikeouts with a 3-1 mark and a 3.65 ERA. |
