Eugene-Ho Chi Minh City Fight Results in Suspensions
Saturday, August 6th , 2050
Yesterday at Saigon Ballpark Shawn Ainsworth and Gregory Sayadian got into each other's space and then into each other's face. They began to grapple and fell to the ground. That's when it boiled over into a full-fledged bench-clearing tussle between the Eugene Exploding Whales and Ho Chi Minh City Tigers. Reason finally prevailed as the umpires restored order. After much discussion, only the two major combatants were ejected from the game.
Today the league office notified the ballclubs that Ainsworth will have to sit out 3 while Sayadian would be given a 6-game suspension for their roles in the brawl.
For the season, Ainsworth has produced 93 hits in 289 at-bats for a .322 average with 3 home runs and gotten on base at a .368 clip.
This season, Sayadian has crafted a 4-11 mark with a 4.50 ERA in 124 innings. Opposing clubs are batting .273 against him and he has 93 strikeouts.
