25 Games in a Row for del Castillo
Thursday, July 28th , 2050
Win or lose, Gil del Castillo just keeps on getting base hits -- game after game after game. He picked up 1 more today and has now stretched his hitting streak to 25 games.
The Portland Pickles center fielder went 1-for-3, but it wasn't enough to win the game. His club was defeated, 5-4, by the Kinsale Fisherman at Walker Stadium.
"It's amazing to watch him hit right now, but I don't think anybody's really mentioning it," one of his teammates said. "We just don't want to jinx him." Gil del Castillo hit a solo-shot off Caleb Pink in the 2nd, grounded out in the 4th, walked in the 6th and flied out in the 8th.
For the season, del Castillo is hitting at a .307 clip with 13 home runs, 46 RBIs and has scored 52 runs. He has 85 hits, 41 walks and a .402 on-base percentage.
