Suspensions Handed Out for Bench-Clearing Brawl
Thursday, August 29th , 2047
Yesterday at Toros Ballpark Travis Schweiner and Tony Sanchez got into each other's space and then into each other's face. They began to grapple and fell to the ground. That's when it boiled over into a full-fledged bench-clearing tussle between the Austin Toros and Kansas City Kings. Reason finally prevailed as the umpires restored order. After much discussion, only the two major combatants were ejected from the game.
Today the league office notified the ballclubs that Schweiner will have to sit out 4 while Sanchez would be given a 8-game suspension for their roles in the brawl.
Currently Schweiner is batting .251 with 15 home runs and 55 RBIs.
This season, Sanchez has chalked up a 4.02 ERA while ringing up 1 save with 2 wins and 2 losses. He has made 29 relief appearances, pitching 53.2 innings, giving up 52 hits, and holding opponents to a .250 batting average. Sanchez has also recorded 52 strikeouts and allowed 19 walks.
