Suspensions Handed Out for Bench-Clearing Brawl Wednesday, May 12th , 2049 Yesterday at Ballpark of Rochester Alex Sayles and Aaron Cochran got into each other's space and then into each other's face. They began to grapple and fell to the ground. That's when it boiled over into a full-fledged bench-clearing tussle between the Rochester River Sharks and Sarasota Sweeties. Reason finally prevailed as the umpires restored order. After much discussion, only the two major combatants were ejected from the game. Today the league office notified the ballclubs that Sayles will have to sit out 4 while Cochran would be given a 9-game suspension for their roles in the brawl. Thus far this year, Sayles is hitting .286 with no home runs, 8 RBIs and 3 runs scored. This year, Cochran has 1 save, totaled 10.2 innings, allowed 18 base hits and fashioned a 7.59 ERA while racking up 7 strikeouts and a record of no wins and no losses. |
