Hernandez Rips Detroit for 5 Hits
Tuesday, May 4th , 2049
It was a hits blitz for Mike Hernandez at Tigers Ballpark.
The Prudenville Timberwolves left fielder tore into the Detroit Tigers for 5 hits in 6 at-bats, but it wasn't enough to win the game. The Tigers swept past the Timberwolves, 9-8, to ruin Hernandez's day.
"We weren't locating our pitches well," Prudenville manager Jim Damewood explained after the game. "Once you get behind in the count, you have to make really good pitches, rather than pretty good pitches, and we weren't able to do that today. Getting 5 hits from Mike was nice but it wasn't enough."
Mike Hernandez singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, hit a two-run double in the 4th, struck out in the 6th, singled in the 8th and hit an RBI single in the 9th.
This year, Hernandez is batting .346 with 27 hits, 5 home runs, 15 RBIs, 11 walks, .427 OBP and has scored 11 runs.
