Eugene Advances to Round 2 Tuesday, September 24th , 2052 The joy and relief on the faces of the Eugene Exploding Whales players was obvious as they celebrated their Round 1 win over the Phoenix Falcons. "In a series like this, the smallest thing can make the difference in how it turns out," said Eugene catcher Jon Lipscomb, shortly after the 6-3 win that clinched the series 4-3. "We're happy we did what it takes to get it done." The team is now off to the Round 2. Lipscomb won series MVP honors on the strength of his .345 batting average during the series. He also had a .367 on-base percentage and 2 home runs, drove in 6 RBI and scored 3 runs. The Eugene Exploding Whales will play against the Portland Pickles in the next round.
