Going Once! Twice! Gone Again! 3 HR for Nevarez Friday, August 16th , 2052 Phoenix Palisades right fielder Marcos Nevarez sensed he was going to have a good day at the plate, but he still might have underestimated it a little. Prior to the start of today's contest with the Thousand Oaks Rabbits, Nevarez told teammates he was sure he would hit a home run. He did -- three times. "During batting practice I really had my swing down pat," he recalled. "I felt some thunder in the lumber." The big day from Nevarez pushed the Palisades past the Rabbits, 8-0. To go along with the homers, he collected 6 RBIs and scored 3 runs. "I was seeing good, feeling good and swinging good," Nevarez told reporters after the game. Marcos Nevarez hit a three-run home run off Kevin Feltes in the 1st, struck out in the 3rd, hit an RBI single in the 5th, hit a solo-shot off Chris Inman in the 8th and hit a solo-shot off Omari Johnson in the 9th. This season, Nevarez has hit 26 home runs and posted a .313 batting average. |
