Big 3-HR Day for Martinez Thursday, August 19th , 2049 It was a good day for the Los Angeles Kings and an exceptional one for Dave Martinez. The 26-year-old first baseman sent three bombs out of the park to help the Kings beat the Portland Beavers, 7-1, at Sportsman's Park. "When you're in the zone, the game really slows down," Martinez said when asked about his performance later. "I couldn't even tell you what pitches were thrown. Today feels great, but it is a long season and tomorrow is another day." For the day, he scored 3 times, drove in 7 runs and smacked 3 hits in 4 at-bats. Dave Martinez grounded out in the 2nd, hit a solo-shot off Steve Thomas in the 5th, hit a GRAND SLAM off Steve Thomas in the 6th and hit a two-run home run off Chris Hakes in the 8th. This year, Martinez has hit at a .283 clip with 66 RBIs, 17 home runs and 50 runs scored. |
