Cifelli Slams 3 Homers for Archies Tuesday, September 13th , 2050 Players don't hit three home runs in a game very often and when they do, it is something to celebrate. After today, Brian Cifelli can celebrate. The St. Louis Archies first baseman powered three into the stands at Team2 Ballpark against the East Haddam Hyenas. "It's rare that you actually try to hit a home run," Cifelli told reporters after the game. "Most of the time you fail, if you really try to hit one. But today, I was really trying on that last one." In all, he was 4-for-5 as the Archies toppled East Haddam by a score of 11-3, knocking in 5 runs and scoring 4 times. "He is blessed with a natural home run swing," St. Louis manager Terry Schneekloth said. "He gets the ball up in the air." Brian Cifelli struck out in the 1st, hit a two-run home run off Alex Watkins in the 3rd, hit a solo-shot off Alex Watkins in the 4th, singled in the 7th and hit a two-run home run off Edgar Hernandez in the 8th. To date, Cifelli has collected 154 hits for a .292 average. He has posted 35 home runs, scored 103 runs and driven in 100 runs. |
