Lezama Garners AL #1 Pitcher Award Monday, August 1st , 2050 Luis Lezama nailed down July's Alliance League Pitcher of the Month award today, adding pressure on Havana to get a deal done before the 28-year-old becomes a free agent. Lezama seems unfazed by the talk. "We get a deal done or we don't," he told reporters, "I'm not worrying about next year. Worrying about next year isn't what wins awards, you know?" He fashioned a 5-0 record, reeled off 36 strikeouts, worked 32.2 innings and held batters to a .210 average for the month as he posted a 2.76 ERA. To date this season, Lezama has a record of 8 wins and 5 losses and a 3.90 ERA. He has appeared in 22 games and struck out 144 in 110.2 innings. |
