Thompson Belts 3 HR for Porters Saturday, September 12th , 2048 Players don't hit three home runs in a game very often and when they do, it is something to celebrate. After today, Peter Thompson can celebrate. The Dublin Porters first baseman powered three into the stands at Russwood Park against the Memphis Chicks. "It's rare that you actually try to hit a home run," Thompson told reporters after the game. "Most of the time you fail, if you really try to hit one. But today, I was really trying on that last one." In all, he was 3-for-6 as the Porters toppled Memphis by a score of 14-10, knocking in 7 runs and scoring 3 times. "He is blessed with a natural home run swing," Dublin manager Jim DG said. "He gets the ball up in the air." Peter Thompson hit a two-run home run off Jeremy Myers in the 1st, hit a three-run home run off Jeremy Myers in the 2nd, hit a two-run home run off Jonathan Fyke in the 3rd, grounded out in the 5th, flied out in the 6th and grounded out in the 9th. Thus far this year, Thompson is batting .267 with 22 home runs, 103 RBIs and 74 runs scored. |
