3-Homer Hat Trick for Blank Saturday, May 4th , 2052 His swing was a thing of beauty. Three times Bobby Blank swung the bat and three times he delivered a home run. It was an awesome sight to behold at Pizzas Ballpark, but to no avail, for as good as he was, the Detroit Pizzas were better. The Yellowstone Super Volcano couldn't capitalize on the big game from Blank and dropped the contest, 6-5. The mood in the Super Volcano clubhouse afterward was subdued, with several players remarking that they had allowed the Pizzas to spoil the day for Blank. "Some of the boys are beating themselves up about it," Yellowstone manager GM AtticaOnline said. "They know we win as a team and lose as a team, but it's hard to really put that idea into practice on a day when one of you was playing on such an obviously higher level." In addition to the homers, Blank collected 4 RBIs and scored 3 runs. "I got three pitches down the pipe and popped them," the Yellowstone left fielder told reporters. "Today I was in a groove. Tomorrow I could just pop the same pitches up and go 0-for-3." Bobby Blank hit a solo-shot off Chikara Nakamoto in the 2nd, struck out in the 4th, hit a two-run home run off Jon Shirley in the 6th and hit a solo-shot off Michael Barrett in the 8th. On the year, Blank has hit .271 with 6 home runs, 18 RBIs and scored 21 runs. |
