Gonzalez Sizzles with 25-Game Batting Streak
Friday, August 30th , 2047
With 3 hits at Sugardome II, Esteban Gonzalez added another game to his hitting streak -- the Brooklyn right fielder has now hit safely for 25 games in a row. But the hitting feat wasn't enough for the Knights, as they fell, 13-4, to the Havana Sugar Kings.
"Frankly, I don't care about hits," Havana manager The Baron said later. "I'll let him get 5 hits in 5 at-bats if it means we get a win." Esteban Gonzalez singled in the 1st, flied out in the 3rd, flied out in the 5th, hit a two-run home run off Luis Lezama in the 7th and singled in the 9th.
Looking at his stats this year, Gonzalez has compiled a .360 batting average, while hitting 35 home runs and driving in 81 runs. He has played in 120 games and scored 98 runs.
