Portland Stops Adams Hit Streak
Sunday, May 2nd , 2049
For once, it was the Detroit Pizzas picking up the slack for Chris Adams.

The club's "offensive catalyst," as Detroit manager Evan Compton has frequently called him, went uncharacteristically silent and saw his 21-game hitting streak snapped by the Portland Beavers. Adams was bailed out by the rest of the Pizzas, however, who stopped the Beavers, 5-4.

The 24-year-old center fielder finished the day 0-for-2, and told reporters at the postgame press conference that "everybody did their job but me."

"Not that it was a huge problem -- we still won the game," he said with a grin. "The streak was a good run though. I'll try to start another one tomorrow."

This season in 24 games, Adams is batting .412 with 3 home runs, 20 RBIs and has scored 17 times.
