Sandoval Takes Place Among Greats
Wednesday, January 4th , 2051
The The Confederation of Baseball Dunces Hall of Fame just added a fine center fielder and hitter to its number. The newest member of baseball's most elite group is Tony Sandoval, who retired at the age of 38.
"I always knew I was good enough to play, but the Hall of Fame was one of the few things I never even dreamed of," said Sandoval at his induction ceremony. "For me to focus a lot on the individual, that's not the way I learned to play the game. Baseball is a team game. You win as a team, you lose as team. You also do so many things together, but it is not an 'I' thing."
During his illustrious career, Sandoval had 363 home runs among his 2450 hits, while batting .261. He played in 2535 games, scored 1500 runs and knocked in 1131 runs.
