Hernandez Wins July's Rookie Award Thursday, August 1st , 2052 Mario Hernandez is still a bit shy, but then, who could blame the newest Alliance League Rookie of the Month honoree? He hasn't been around the league long enough to fully know the ropes yet, despite the fact that he's putting up veteran-like numbers. In July the Detroit hitter tagged opposing pitching for a .387 average with 36 hits, 7 home runs and 22 RBIs. During the current season Hernandez is batting at a .274 clip with 19 home runs and 61 RBIs. He has played in 93 games and scored 59 times. |
