Dublin Porters starter Ben Verville turned in an exceptional performance against the St. Louis Archies at Team2 Ballpark, resulting in a Dublin win, 5-2. Verville, now 1-1, was the winner. In 8 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 7, walking 1, and allowing 2 runs. Dublin, with the win, is 8-4.
Kasey Stephens came through with a big-time hit for Dublin. The center fielder smacked a 3-run home run in the top of the seventh inning to give his team the lead, 5-2. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.
"As well as we've been playing, I think we can play even better," said Dublin manager Hannah Porter.
