The Portland Beavers started the World Series in style, winning on the road against the St. Louis Archies at Team2 Ballpark by a score of 6-4 to take an early 1-0 lead in the best-of-7 series. Beavers third baseman Marco Estrada excelled. He slugged 2 home runs.

Portland used the hitting of David Terkeurst to pick up the win. The catcher clubbed a 2-run home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Beavers on top, 5-1. For the game, Terkeurst had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.

Portland manager GM bigbluex02 praised his team's "businesslike approach."

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Team2 Ballpark in San Diego.
